I really don't get these kinds of felonies. If a 17-year-old or 15-year-old or whatever age these boys were willing to get a blow job and party with an old lady, how much would this really damage them in this day and age? There might be some regret once you sober up but I seem to remember they were willing participants often, and kept coming back. The double standard for child molestation goes back before Mary K. to a case in the fifties where a teen-aged boy was exploited by a series of adult women. He was referred to in the press as the "Woo Woo Boy." I'm not sure but I think that the law enforcement concern at the time was to stop this boy from corrupting the morals of these women.

The problem with child exploitation is that children do have sexual desires and often these can be twisted by adults in ways that are damaging to the emotional and social health of the child. Yet the child is willing at the time and often feels conflicted about their own participation when they try to deal with their baggage in therapy for years and years in adulthood.

Adult children who have been exploited may end up thinking "it happened to me, I liked it, and I turned out okay," (all objective evidence to the contrary) and by that logic join the "pedophile community."

To say a 13 year old girl is the same as a 17 year old boy having sex with someone over the age is ludacris. People actually kill and do less time than 30 years. I agree. A sentence that equates to murder is way over the top. And I agree that the appropriate sentence would be maybe counseling and probation.

It looks like the law makes little distinction between a consensual arrangement with a teenager close to the age of majority, and raping a tot.

It does make it easier for law enforcement when the law is simply based on checking I.D.s, rather than the context of the relationship. But it is pretty whacked that a geezer can take a girl out to dinner and dancing the night before her 18th birthday and as long as you don't crack a beer with her you stick your dick in her mouth at midnight. But a minute before midnight could get you thirty years.

I agree. But, I think that you are underestimating the harm done to teenage boys when adults exploit their sexual desires. There is a difference between fantasy and reality and children, even teens, cannot make that judgment in their own best interest.

If a teen boy starts living out his gay fantasies with U.S. Marines he may end up dedicating his adult life to answering letters from "guys with pies," or some such shit. Would you want that for your son?

Making a judgment about which is worse, exploiting teen boys or teen girls is pretty tricky. Girls tend to mature sooner, and are attracted to older guys in general. They often end up with older guys who are still less mature than they are who quickly turn out not to be very good fathers to their baby at seventeen even though the girls often turn into pretty good mothers given the shit that comes their way for the rest of their lives.

The double standard, ( i.e. horny boy = playa, horny girl = hoe), it just doesn't help the complicated situation.

That would be shitty but if my retarded daughter said she was in love, I wouldn't want the guy to rot in prison like he was a pedophile. Maybe I'll change my entire way of thinking once I have my own kids and say NO! BURN THE MOTHERFUCKER! For now, I'd see it as a bunch of stupidity on both sides and reluctantly have to accept it happened and hope that my kid wises up and not fuck much older men. Life can be stupid like that. The exception is an obvious predator but by the time kids are in their teens, it's not the same situation as an adult who goes out to fuck a little kid. Predators like kids because they can be taken advantage of. Teens have a bit more common sense.
