have a herniated l4/l5 with an anterior tear in the disc. I am currently on 2 five mg pills 3 times a day. I just recieved my R/X this last friday. Lat night my car was parked at this park and ride place where you ride the bus from. I came back and my backpack which was in the car had been stolen. Inside were my pain meds. This is my dilemna im in horrible pain. But im afraind to call my doctor and explain the situation. From everything I read this is a red flag that im an addict when im not. So should I just suffer for the next 2 weeks or should I call. Are there any doctors out there that can give me some advice?

Just call your doc, dude. They're practiced at sorting pain-killer addicts from people actually suffering immense pain.

thats the thing, I dont want them to think im an addict. From what ive read thats one of the red flags when a person calls in a RX stolen,.

Did you file a police report or contact your insurance company when your car was broken into?

um ...
let's look at it like this.
I could percieve this post in this fashion:
An addict is paranoid about being cought by his doctor for requesting repeat perscription .. so said person looks to the stranger forums for r/x advice.
....
the thing is, if you're not an addict all you have to do is explain the situation to your doctor.
....
btw why didn't you call your doctor immediately when this happened? did you research med red flags first? I'm really confused as to why you are paranoid about being red-flagged. if you're not an addict you have nothing to worry about, if you are you'll get help.
it's a win win situation. just call your freakin' doctor and stop sweatin' the small shit.

Then if you reported it stolen to the police and if the pharmacy had any questions about this being legitimate, you have the police report as proof that you aren't doing this because you are hooked on the sweet highs of Oxycontin.

Yes...this is most definitely something that will be documented in your medical charts....because it is required of the doctor by law.
But as in being a red flag....no. If this is a first time occurence...as in not having happened before...your doctor will replace your prescription for you with no problems.....and if your doctor doesn't....well...it is time to get a new one.
But if you are a first time patient to this facility, this may put them on a little higher alert because maybe you have done this at other clinics and each time it happens you move to a new clinic/doctor. If this is something that has happened before or you have created issues in the past regarding pain killer medications, this will put them on a little higher alert and they may ask you for your police report before re-writing the prescription.
But as a person that works with pharmacists and providers on a daily basis, I can tell you that 99.9% of providers and pharmacists out there will not even look twice at you if this is a first time occurence, expecially with a police report there to back you up.
When it is a habit tho, have no doubt about it, the pharmacists and providers have their ways of "red flagging" you. :)
