Is anyone checking out the Sunday nights at Baltic Room thing? Hows the turn out? Is it any good? Do they really play harsh noise?
Whatever happened to Drone Hill?
How come Bacillus never plays?
Are they doing Seattle Noise Fest again? Last year SUCKED hard. Good thing Menche was there. I heard a new crew of folks were going to be organzing something this year... any word, humming bird?
Electric Heavyland is keeping it real. Anyone stopped by for shows?
I love 1412 but way too much avant "fart - f =" nonsense and not enough harsh noise.
HARSH NOISE HARSH NOISE HARSH NOISE anyone...
I think Oscillating Innards and Pedestrian Deposit and going to be up here again soon. The kids keep it real.
HELLO???

The problem with most noise musicians is their chicken shit to make absolute real noise. Too much "quirky arty bullshit" and not enough truth. Any jackass can buy an oscillator, now bring me to my fucking knees.

Semantics and too many labels...attempts to elevate by phraseology...me? well I'm a turntablist/turntabalista who melds found sounds...I am an art form...I shape emotion and movement...not to be confused with hey there, hi there...well you know

There's a pretty good noise night once a month at Re-bar. Not strictly noise, there's improv and art-rock and such, too, but it makes a racket nonetheless.
There's going to be a big multi-venue noise festival in September. Acts are all confirmed (inc. the Haters, Caroliner, Emil Beaulieau, etc. etc.). Venues to be determined.

I would love, Love, LOVE to see Caroliner live in action, FUCK YES!
I saw The Haters at the SF Noisefest and they were SO BORING, I couldn't believe it. I thought it'd be insane, heh...
Emil Beaulieu? Well, let's just say I have heard THE TRUE SOUND OF LOVE
do you have any more details on this? can I call you D-money? D$ for short? haha

Liver & Bacon's April show was needlessly underseen. If they do anything remotely similar I'd say check this one out.

So, the noise festival thing mentioned earlier is taking shape (thanks to the kind efforts and hard work of the boys at Electric Heavyland). Sept. 8, 9, 10, & 11th. The 8th at the Sunset, 9th & 10th at Re-bar, and the 11th at the Baltic Room. Schedule is still TBD, although I do know the Haters, Beaulieau, Caroliner and Smegma (among others) will be at the Re-bar shows. It's gonna be quite the too-doo, what with webcasts, an SF radio broadcast, beer sponsorships, the works. Further details, as ever, pending.
Speaking of Re-bar, next week's Le Vide has a good bill. The Stranger's own Christopher DeLaurenti will present some NYC protest field recordings w/ live electronics, Dave Knott will do his homemade instrument improv thing, and the Occidental art-rock scuffle of Na should frighten the children. And DJ Wm. F. Buckley, Jr. will be on hand, as always. 3 bands, 3 bucks, Wed. the 29th, check it, yo.

irr.app.(ext.)? Rubber O Cement? Panicsville? Twist my arm already...
I used to have a slight bias against the power electronics crowd (as opposed the the more rock-based noise bands), but that all ended with the huge show last year with Email Beaulieu, Crank Sturgeon, etc. @ the SS Marie Antoinette. On record, I just didn't think that it would groove live. Oh, how wrong I was...

I am very glad that the Seattle Noise Fest organization has been moved to a new set of people this year. I'm one of the folks who helped organize last year's 'fest' and it was pretty clear to me that those of us who decided to start this thing up...well...some of us didn't really have the time to put into it to make it as great as it could be. Consider all of the Noise fans that are here in Seattle.
And/but/also: I hope that next year there is a VARIETY of "noise sub-genres" (gimmie a fucking break - what else am I going to call them) represented. Seems like last year was heavy on the micro-noise and non-drone oriented sounds. This year looks to be very heavy on the dark-dark side of the spectrum.
I'm also floored by the concept that that Menche is NOT part of the "Artsy" noise world. I'd consider his stuff very etherial, sleepy-time noise. GREAT stuff. I love the guy, love his work, worked with him several times. Great stuff..... and even nice to nap to on the studio couch!
But to put his work in the "bring me to my fucking knees" area makes me realize (again) what VAST differences there are in perception of what Noise is and should be. I always think of him as someone who spends time crafting his sounds to effect, but not inflict.... if you see where I am going with that.
Personally, I'd like to see a lot of sub-genres represented at a fest: Perhaps book each nigt to represent a different sub-genre of Noise. Or each venue houses a seperate 'type' of noise. Or perhaps deliberately mix it up to force people to be exposed to artists they wouldn't normally stretch out and listen to.
Or alternatively, call it the "Bring you to your knees - not for anyone who is interested in subtile nuance" noise fest.
But hey - _I_ don't get any say in the matter if _I_ am too damn lazy to work on the orgaization!
All power to those who organized this year - Looks like it's gonna be really great. See y'all there Friday.

And do remember - the total budget for last year's fest was about $300!!!!!

hello noise seekers!
i've been checking out the seattle noise scene for almost the last 5 years, perviously i lived too far north to actually hear about any of the shows happening around town and it was kinda hard to meet people since i didnt even know where to look...
anyhow, to make this short, i book noise shows 2 or 3 times a month so if you wanna play a show or just come check it out and meet all the totally awesome experimental folks in town then we should totally chat it up!!!
