Has anyone heard anything about this? I got this link from a friend but don't know any details... If it means what I think it means then I think it might be time to get scared....

Still in committee to this day. Funny how this kinda snuck under the radar.

I don't know how they get this to a vote, let alone pass this without an uproar: it reeks of blatant partisanship, which may be too much even for the Republican party.

UPDATE: This isn't the first time. This thing actually happens a lot. (http://www.thecarpetbaggerreport.com/archives/000176.html)

And take comfort: if Dubya in '08 becomes a real possibility I've got three words and a number for you: Bill Clinton in '08! If Amendment 22 can't stop Dubya from running, it can't stop Slick Willie either, and whether Monica, Whitewater or whatever, Clinton's popularity and rep is still through the roof and people would come out of all woodworks to vote for him. Had he been able to run in 2000, Dubs wouldn't have had a chance.

Thanks for the info! The whole world is starting to feel way too much like the backstory to Escape From LA, and since I'm pretty sure I'm not as tough as Snake Pliskin, it's worrying me.

Actually, both Republicans and Democrats have used this "threat" to kill each others bills and proposals. A party thinks they will get their bills passed in a "package deal" that is largely bi-partisan and somebody comes along at the last second and tacks this on to the "package deal". This way the "package deal" is dead in committee because the 3/4ths majority is not going to pass a "package deal" that would also be responsible for repealing the 22nd Amendment.

Rest easy...it's just the Potomac two step at work. The world of professional poitics are not for the faint of heart.

It's unlikely the Republicans would push for ending term limits since Clinton probably would come back to run against Bush. Heck he was so bored he wrote a 1300 page book. I'd like to see term limits squashed along with the law that only American-born Citizens could run. That would set up an Arnold Schwarzenegger-Bill Clinton race where it would be hard for either candidate to criticize the others personal life.

the irony being that the republicans originally passed the bill to limit terms.
