So, maybe this isn't the proper forum, but my friend Chris and I just finished writing a play that we think is kind of amazing. The trouble is, we can't seem to find competent, talented actors who are willing to work for free to put it on. Hmm, 'magine that. Really, though, if I were a student or an actor just starting out, I'd try out for this play. We're hoping to put it on sometime this summer at the Rendezous and maybe a few other informal venues. Hopefully, we can practice in Volunteer Park when the weather's okay. We're looking for a male lead, a moderately sized male supporting actor part, moderate female supporting actor part and various bit parts. I don't really want to get into a lot of subtextual blah blah about the play, but it's called Taking the Low Road." It's about a guy named Lyle who decides to half-assedly fight for custody of his daughter while revelling in the gambling problem that he glorifies. It's short--one act, approximately 30 minutes in length. We're also looking for someone who knows a lot about slide shows, Powerpoint or super 8 film. If anybody's interested in trying, just let me know. Respond to this thread or email Chris and I at tryoutforourplay@gmail.com
