Yesterday Eric Rudolf was sentenced to life in prison for his pro-life kill spree. The fact that he is not now on trial with the prosecution seeking the death penalty is an obvious sweetheart deal cut by the D.A. to keep the daily reports of testimony out of the newspapers during the same period of time that the new Supreme Court nominee is being chosen.

This is brilliant politics on the part of the Republicans. How could Ted Kennedy demand the death penalty? But it hides the real face of the pro-lifers, the twisted face of homicidal, controlling, sanctimonious rage, at a time when the country should be thinking hard about the changes on the Supreme Court.

The prosecutor described Eric Rudolf's crime as "seeking private justice." Would she have said the same about the Unibomber, or Osama?

The obviousness of the corruption, and the lack of discussion about it just kills me.

The Supreme Court is a big deal. Way bigger than the presidency.
