I am posting this thread as a public service announcement to anyone who is into good bands and good music....YOU ARE IN THE WRONG PLACE! I spent a year and a half upon arriving in Seattle reading the Stranger and going to see the bands they suggested. That was the biggest waste of time, EVER. If you are into pansy-ass emo and indie rock bands, then by all means, go check out the bands and clubs that the Stranger panders to and glad-hands and calls great and all that crap that they do every single issue. Modest Mouse, Death Cab for Cutie. Gimme a frickin break. Clueless Zine + No talent bands equals the lamest music scene in the country, which is entirely the fault of the Stranger. They have no excuse.
If you are a rocker, punk, metalhead, or into hardcore and like bands with actual talent and stage presence (wow, what a concept), go to "Seattle Metal Online". I won't post the web addy here because The Stranger's gay-bots will be along any second to erase web-links of any value. Just google "Seattle Metal Online" and you'll find what you need. Once there, go to the SMO forum called "The Greenroom" and start reading the threads. There you will find the sacred knowledge of all the excellent hard rock/heavy metal bands in Seattle. All of them are there. Close to 250 at last count. Who they are and where they are playing. You will never find this info in The Stranger, because SMO bands have no gay-agenda and therefore don't spend money advertising in this clueless rag.
BTW, you homos totally ripped off our forum. Burn.

You can't be embarrassed about something you don't own. Rich is looking like an ass all by himself. I suspect it won't be the last time he gets honorable mention for being the village idiot. If you are embarrassed by association then it's time to evaluate just who is riding on who's coat tails. That boy is on a big powertrip over nothing.
When this first happened, I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I thought maybe he had a momentary lapse of reason and he would apologize after his psychosis wore off. Everyone makes mistakes right?
Rich blatently refused to apologize and found an even more distorted way of justifying his actions. As luck would have it there is no end in site. He's on a roll - causing even more people to question his sanity.
Any credibility that SMO ever had - regardless of how little, is shot.

Man, this is kind of crazy. I totally see how the guy who started this was way out of line. At the same time, does he really represent that seattle metal website? I'm a fan of metal and I wish there were more of it, and more original forms of it, being promoted by the stranger and other music forces in Seattle like KEXP and such. As one guy on here has noted, Dog Bone Sanctuary and Drown Mary are 2 metal bands that have a really original sound and deserve the support of the entire community, and they both started out on the SMO website. So, hopefully SMO will straighten this all out and instead of fighting amongst ourselves, the music scene can unify and cooperate to the benefit of all. Can't we all just get along??? I love indie and metal and everything in-between.
