Thursday was a crazy day. The "Excutive Producer" of SMO came here and posted under the screen name NME( NEW MUSIC EDITER(BULLLLLLLLLLLLLLLSHyT) and talked hella smack about what his opinion of good music was and how the Stranger ripped off this forum. He went back to the Greenroom where I had posted a link to his crazy rant. It was removed from the Stranger forums in response to THIS. (http://forums.thestranger.com/showthread.php?t=60) . He changed the Homophobic title of the thread( In the greenroom) to become PC and then said I had nothing to offer while he was showing how PC he was. I just wanted to say I was banned from the greenroom for telling the truth. Instead of taking shit out on the bands within the organization let's let Rich Rudy know how you feel He is still here under Metrotarantula. The same as he is right here http://www.shadows.com/forum/showthread.php?t=31562 You must register. Or just e-mail him or call him @Main: (206)985.2874

Any idea who it was that imposed the ban?

Was it Rich himself? Cuz some of the other SMO folks seemed to agree he was in the wrong...

That thread is still on fire too.

SLAMtv Broadcast Group
June 3rd, 2005, 08:57 AM
In April 2003, the core staff of SLAM TV were members of an internet discussion group called Seattle Metal Online or SMO, a discussion forum for local heavy bands and a networking tool for those in the Seattle metal scene. Every staff member past and present-- Lisa, Jenzy, Joe Gibson, Geri Nahrgang, Robert Peters and Savage was a participating member of SMO at one time, with the exception of Gina Dufrain, who I asked to stay away from the online dramatics of that discussion group.

Lately there have been changes in the scope and mission of SMO that have required me to officially distance myself from that particular group, most notably involving an unflattering statement posted by the head of SMO on the internet message forum of The Stranger, which is the leading underground media source in the PNW in print.

A the head of a grassroots media organization, I feel a responsibility to be supportive and positive in my interactions with other grassroots media organizations, at least RESPECTFUL of them if our views on subjects should differ. It is my opinion that the statement made by the head of the SMO was neither respectful, supportive nor positive in that regard, and in fact, homophobic, hurtful, and not representative of any group of people currently involved in the NW music industry.

The SLAMtv Broadcast Group is not represented by Seattle Metal Online and will not be affiliated with the organization in the future. I will reprint the mission statement published in January of 2005 to give a clear definition of our objectives:

OUR MISSION STATEMENT: The SLAMtv Broadcast Group includes 424 Productions, which will become the parent company dedicated to the production of SLAMtv-branded television broadcasts. It also includes 665 Productions, a proprietary company of Stephen Austin, which is responsible for any original video production for any SBG project. It's umbrella also represents any outside contributors who have either A.) Given permission for their copyrighted material to be used in broadcast or B.) have been specifically commissioned by 424/SBG to produce material for programming. Whereas these contributors are entities SEPARATE from the aforementioned companies, and dully recognized as such, they are considered members of the 424/SBG "family" and their interests are respected and represented by the group. The SLAMtv Broadcast Group's primary production for 2005 will be a one-hour per episode show entitled "PLUTONIUM: U.H.A. (Uber Heavy Airwaves)". Each season shall be a minimum of 13 episodes in length. The programming format for "Plutonium" shall remain: Heavy music videos including but not limited to: Metal of all styles, Punk, Hardcore, Grindcore, Industrial, hard rock, Stoner rock, etc. We have divorced ourselves from a regional focus for 2005 to concentrate our resources on producing a QUALITY program featuring LABEL-SUPPORTED and SELF-SUPPORTED acts. Admittedly, we have modeled this program after "Uranium" on Fuse, but we dare to differ from "Uranium" by airing smaller-label and unsigned, self-supported acts. As always, our stance shall be censorship-free and we will continue our practice of not editing for language or content in any cable market possible. For broadcast purposes, "Plutonium: U.H.A." shall replace our other SLAMtv-branded programs, specifically "SLAMtv" and "Saturday Night Heavyweights". Steps have been taken to promote our program and the SBG at live events outside the current broadcast area. These will be continued and increased into 2005 and beyond. These live events will also reflect a respect for the interests of our contributors. There will be some changes, namely additions, to the SBG staff in the near future, and we look forward to continuing positive relationships with our national and regional associates into 2005 and beyond.

I am also including a link to an article published on Sweden's Metal Covenant.com website that includes my comments and the comments of one of my contemporaries for further clarification:http://metalcovenant.com/pages/articles/metal_is_dead.htm
