Do any of you guys think that today's youth apathetic? I myself half think that young ppl nowadays are impassive becuz in one of my class, when the teacher brought up a piece of news from Iraq, saying that there were 19-year-old boy killed in action, 21-year-old soldiers killed in action and so on, nobody seemed to be surprised or expressed any significant emotions. But besides, youth seem to be very passive in music and fashion, don't they? What do you think are the reasons for youth to be apathetic?

If things don't directly affect whether they are going to get laid soon, then they would likely be of little concern.
They probably sense that the whole country is rapidly going down the toilet, and the easiest way to deal with it is not to deal with it at all.
Or, perhaps they are plotting to take over, Children of the Corn style, and are just playing it cool until the signal to attack is given.

I think it's because no one taught them how to write.

Apathy is a sign of attachment. When I give to others really I am allowing my heart to grow deeper.
Last week a friend had a cyst removed from her earlobe. Waiting with her while she suffered allowed me to see deeply into life.
Youth is simply old age cloaked in an illusion.

i agree with this comment.
additionally, i dont think all youth is apathetic. im only 20 years old, and the majority of my friends are 17 to 22 years old. i cannot think of a single person who i would consider apathetic. the youths that i know are well aware of the world around them, of the war and tragedy in the middle east, of the constant battles in our local government, et cetera. id like to believe this isnt the exception to the rule.
couldnt the same arguement be made about adults? if anything, they have more power, thus more responsibility, than youths, and just as many adults continuously turn their backs on the facts and fail to look for ways to help.
