"Hey Miss?"
I'm in the grocery store shopping for mustard. A guy follows me into the aisle, but I don't see that, what I hear is "Hey Miss" over & over & louder. I'm really studying the various brands of mustard and I really am not looking for a guy three times my age who hasn't showered & wants to flirt.
I'm in a thrift store. Yes, alone, but no, that does not mean that saying, "Hey Miss" repeatedly is going to get my attention. I don't know you, I don't want to, leave me alone. Just because I'm alone does not mean I'm looking to date an inappropriate male simply because you desperately want my attention. I don't have to engage you in conversation actually. not for any reason at all. What are you thinking? Can't you just shop?
Do you really believe this is your lucky day and I'm going to date you? Do you truly think it's appropriate to sneak up behind a totally strange woman when you are a totally strange man to me & put your hand around my waist and say, "Hey pretty lady." Do you feel that will make me want you? Well, you're wrong, it makes me want to run or scream, it's just plain creepy.
If a woman notices you & is interested, trust me she knows how to talk, flirt and ask directly for what she wants. She can smile, she can look at you for several seconds in a row, she can talk to you first and she can tell you to leave her alone or totally ignore you if she wants to. Repeating her name because somehow you found it out or just saying hey miss, hey pretty lady, or hey, hey, hey is never going to work so just stop it for all of the women who are just plain sick of being hassled while running errands at the bank, post office, grocery store, walking and living their lives without being annoyed by your wishes for the focus to be on your face, voice, eyes or request for spare change or to answer any of your questions.
You think you are flattering me with lame compliments? You're a royal pain in the ass with obvious motives. Why should I have to walk around a block or leave a store or go to another aisle just to avoid you?
