Default where'd the rock go...?

okay.

four gin and tonics in, i have to ask...where the fuck has the rock gone?

i remember when rock ruled this city. i'm totally cool with this bearded, flannel-revival of folk/rock/whatever, but come on! where are the guys that can just strap on a guitar and FUCKING ROCK YOUR PANTS OFF? i know TAD is still out there, i know that Mark Arm and Mudhoney are still hanging about...we need them and their kin more than ever. as the guy from the "lamestain" blog said, 'we need a guy from Cat Butt to come out and teach kids these days what ROCK is about.' (of course, i paraphrase) NOBODY around these days could even TOUCH TAD in their hayday. where are the anthems of our youth? where is the "touch me i'm sick" where's the "wood goblins", where is the "Negative Creep" of today!?

i worry about the pussy rock/pop punk that prevails today...come back, guys. the kids need you. please, won't you think of the children?

Please see gin and tonic 13 for your answer.

I scored more weed off some guy from Cat Butt and I ever smoked with him. Once he graduated from a skateboard to a bullet proof Ford Grenada, I lost track.

Tad is originally from Boise ID. Which was apparently something he wanted to keep under wraps the time, back in the day. That show he opened for the Bad Brains was amazing.

Nothing says give me a hand job, we’ve sold out like "touch me i'm sick" I went ticketless to see Mud Honey out at Mary Moore. I got chased away from the fence, in a public park. Because I suppose I could have jumped to fence and ripped off the establishment to hear a band sing "touch me i'm sick".
Fuck me, I’m on public property.

The kids are all right, it ain’t the same but it’s their own thing.

...i thought you were supposed to be DRUNK to post on this forum.

you really think that "touch me i'm sick" is a sell out song...? you've gotta be kidding me. if you don't like some of the bands i mention in my post, fine. but, i'm sorry, they didn't make THAT big of a splash with that song in 1988. it's a good song, sorry you had such a hard time going to see them in concert. (or, trying to sneak in/view from a distance or whatever you were trying to do.)

the kids are alright, yes. but, they are missing that grit that used to be around. there's something just so...limp about what they call rock these days. if you know TAD (oh, and thanks for the history lesson) then you KNOW there's not rock like that around anymore and it's missed. that was the point of my post. plus, i was drunk.

"The slime" by Frank Zappa?

Your Media is controlled and you will listen to reruns like David Letterman for years of your life! for decades the stuff will play! the Microsoft Search and Destroy has changed music forever! It took only a few years for the entire machine to become the largest monopoly of all that "is" and we are now forced to listen and watch what the rulers believe are worthy of watching?

Where is the next led Zepplin? The next Hendrix? the Next The Who! the next Judas Priest? The next AC/DC?

where is the "energy" I crave from the music I need? these days I listen to the sweet whine and moanes of women as they harmonize in Taget commercials on TV and I try to squeek like a mouse in tune with the 29 octaves higher than I can do and toss glitter and swing a chem light in a pattern to show Im oblivious of the place called called corner of High Gain and Big Bang?

Its My Generation? people try to put us down just because we get around? yes they are and have put us down and i know not where my energy of rock-n-roll lays in wait to be felt by the hairs on the back of my neck and the goose bumps on my forearms.

i know that the WORDS "fuck me i'm sick" are in the song...ONCE. but, i've NEVER heard it called that, ever. that's something that would be pretty common knowledge, that SubPop had them change the title of the song for better airplay. so, i'm not so sure about that.

Michael Azzerad says this in his book Our Band Could Be Your Life: scenes from the american indie underground 1981-1991 about Mudhoney:

"Arm also states that "Touch Me I'm Sick" was a catchphrase around which the band built a song"

looks more like "touch me, i'm sick" was the idea. "not fuck me, i'm sick", which was just a lyric.

Brits don't rock no more! America don't rock no more! the icky uck mother fuckers just push the music of the freaks that will cut there grass and wash there car?

Sad to say if your music sucks and its getting airtime then we know your good at sucking and have made it a profession?

Alice in chains is coming in September! that the only rock band I will go see if I win the lottery or I find work with something other then a control freak scrooge!

I wish I would have done the Van halen concert!

But rock is not punk! its not rap! its not Dance! its not metal or industrial or grunge or Twitter! I know Twitter is trying to be associated as Rock-n-roll but im sorry? little Richard can beat the keys to tooty fruity and its Rock-n-roll!

Its like dude?

This was an amusing thread to read.

We are missing quite a few posts that were recent--like within the last week. Cant remember if it was Criscol or not, but someone posted some Bund League info for Sat/Sun and now its gone. I think JackDee responded to that post. Anyone with any recollection of that post or with info as to where to find missing posts please respond. Thanks

Tad still rocks; I saw Bros. of the Sonic Cloth play at the greenhouse. He was wearing corpsepaint, and looked like a bearded panda.
